The Just shall live by faith

1. Romans 1:17 – “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

2. Galatians 3:11 

3. Hebrews 10:38 

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

1. So how do we live better?

  You need the word of GOD to live better. The more of it you eat the better you live.

Proof: 

In the natural when you fail to eat you become hungry. Often we also become easily agitated when we are hungry

What do you think happens to your spiritual  man when it does not feast on the Word of GOD.

1. You are frustrated and don’t know why

2. You are short fuse (say things you know you shouldn’t say)

3. You lose your direction and allow fear to become your guide in life (making rash decisions)

4. You lack clear vision; 'Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he." Prov 29:18

Trails and Temptation are a part of the process

1. Deut 8:2  And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

2. Mat 4:1  Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit to be tempted. 

Proof:

I Pet 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Each day can have both trials and triumphs. One must remind themselves that the trails are there to lift you up but they must be under your feet. The triumphs are there to radiate the glory; just make sure you give it all to GOD.

Mark 10:46 

1. Jericho 

• City that belonged to GOD (Joshua 6:17-18)

• It should not be rebuilt (Joshua 6:26)

• Means place of fragrance

        

2. BarTimaeus (son of Honor) was the son of Timaeus (Honor)

3. Jericho is northeast of Jerusalem and Jesus was on His way to attend to His call as the sacrifice for all of humanity.

4. Jesus didn’t stop working miracles on His way to the Cross. 

• Q: How can we bless Jesus?

• A: Mat 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me

• A: Prov 19:17 Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender.

5. How would you see Bart today? Homeless disabled, disheveled, pushed aside. 

RECOGNIZE THE MOMENT

Mark 10:47 Nazareth (Land locked) is North of Jericho and Jerusalem and south west of Capernaum (by the sea of Galilee) 

• BarTimaeus heard it was Jesus (son of David/the Seed of Promise) and no doubt heard of the miracles Jesus had performed

• This was indeed a moment that could change his life; just needed to act on it. 

Proof:

Isaiah 35:5–6 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy

What Scripture rings loud here?

• Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

 

John 9:32 Never before has anyone heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind.

Old Testament Prophets to perform miracles but none of them were able/released to heal the blinded eyes

• Old Testament Miracles 

• The widow's oil multiplied 2Ki 4:2-7

• Shunammite's son raised 2Ki 4:32-37

• The deadly pottage cured 2Ki 4:38-41

• Hundred men fed with twenty loaves   2Ki 4:42-44

REBUKE THE NAYSAYERS

Mark 10:48 

1. Why didn’t BarTimaeus stay quiet? 

2. Are there things you need when Jesus is walking by? Is there a reason you don’t make a sound? 

Action Scripture(s):

Job 17:9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, [a]giving thanks to His name.

3. You cannot be passive nor denied...who knows what you have been through or how much you need a way out.

Action Scripture(s):

Jeremiah 12:5 If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustest, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

Pro 10:4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Pro 12:24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

REALIZE THE CALL

Mark 10:49-50

1. Jesus calls BarTimaeus up and BarTimaeus responds; in spite of his disability. 

• Is there anything holding you back from “the Call”?

• He has to become uncomfortable to get to Jesus. He has been sitting all day.

2. How fast did he put away what he had to get what he wanted

Action Scripture:

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

• He has to throw off what was covering him to leave where he was to be where is should be (healed) Noone can deliver like Jesus

• Cast off fear

• Cast off regret

• Cast off feeling of inadequacy 

• Cast off feeling of neglect

• Cast off hurt and bitterness

RECEIVE THE BLESSING

Mark 10:51 

1. Jesus gets the man to say what he needs. 

2. This is an opportunity to partner with GOD by agreeing with His WORD. 

Action Scripture:

2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

3. You can ask GOD for specific things! He is GOD enough to do that and more!

Action Scripture(s):

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits

Proverbs 13:2 From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the desire of the faithless is violence.

Matthew 12:37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be                 

condemned."

Ephesians 3:20 Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think” 

RELEASE THE HONOR (Timaeus) AND PRAISE (Judah)

Mark 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

What did the man receive? His sight and his call

What did he have in exchange for what he received? His Faith

How did he release the HONOR? He followed Jesus in the way

Glorifying God can be found when we exercise our faith, trusting GOD when all seems hopeless.

Isaiah 40:30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. 31 But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
